We are sending out our Holiday newsletter again. This was originally sent December first, but some technological issues occurred causing many article links to be broken or guided you to the back end of our website. We've made some changes and hopefully have fixed the problem. So we are sending this out again with a few changes (like the extension of the gift certificate sale and we're happy to report that Squeaky the cat has found a home and is no longer available for adoption). We don't want to fill your mail box with redundant stuff, but we heard form so many that the links were a problem and we do want to make sure you get the information you need. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We are so thankful to our wonderful clients and friends who have been part of our lives in 2011 and before. We wish you all a fantastic holiday season filled with love, happiness and all things that bring you joy (like a well-mannered dog, the purr of your favorite feline, the happy chirps and chats of your feathered friends or the partnership and grace of your horsey-friend or other animal companion).
From all of us here at Pure Spirit,
Marilyn, Trish, Pat & Sheri
P.S. Please send us your feedback. If you would like to see something in upcoming newsletters or if you have articles you'd like to share, let us know! And, of course, if you have trouble with the links on this one, please let us know. Happy Howl-i-days!

T'was the week before Christmas...
T’was the week before Christmas, when somewhere in the land An owner cried: Why does the dog not obey my command? Can't get him to sit…to lie down and to stay. If I call him to come – he just runs away. I’ve heard it’s possible, perhaps just a magical place Where the dogs don’t pull people, but walk at their pace. Soon it’s the holidays and we will have guests, My dog'll jump on them, why-can’t-he-give-it-a-rest? I’ve tried to hang ornaments, you, know – deck the halls, My dog retrieves them - to him they’re just big shiny balls. Please be a good boy,… I plead… and I beg, He walks to the tree and lifts up his leg. If only I’d listened to my dog-loving friend, She gave me a referral - and hope! - that I could mend His naughty little ways. I needed only to employ The trainer at Pure Spirit to fill our life with joy. This trainer is amazing, she has a great technique- Focusing on tricks, like shake. rollover and speak. With manners so bad the dog merits banning After working with Marilyn, he’ll be simply enchanting. That’s it! I’ve decided! To training I'll commit...

Planning for a Stress-Free Home
Three Things We're Doing Now
Our home, like yours, becomes more active with additional visitors and goings-on over the holidays. We have already begun some training exercises and games that are designed to help my pets cope with the additional commotion over the next month or two.
Not everyone has the time or patience to tackle as many "games" as we do, but maybe this article will spark some ideas that you can try with your pets. READ MORE...
Mental Stimulation Is Important
As the weather cools and we humans (at least in Minnesota) begin to hibernate, we can forget that our pets need consistent exercise beyond the quick potty break outside the back door. Luckily, studies show that mental stimulation is nearly as effective as physical exercise to help our pets adjust to our more sedentary lifestyle over the next few months. Read about several toys that we recommend to engage and challenge your pets. There is even a short video of Floyd the Cat playing with a couple of the options.

Please give to your local humane society or rescue organization this holiday season, but beware of large "non-profit" organizations with huge budgets for advertising that tugs on your heartstrings, but do very little to help local (if any) animals in need.
